Dans la rue has been running prevention programs aimed at school aged kids for many years now. The program being offered in schools today is a highly interactive session featuring a trained presenter/moderator and features video, a comic book and lively discussions. This fast paced format helps open kids' eyes to the reality of life on the streets and presents alternatives to running away.

Cul de Sac

Cul de sac is a hard-hitting video developed as a runaway prevention tool co-produced by Dans la rue and Picture This Productions. The video is based on real-life experiences of street kids and offers a candid, sometimes frightening look at the dangers of life on the street. The video tackles issues such as prostitution, hard drugs, overdose and death. After viewing the video the moderator uses a set of group exercises to spark straightforward dialogue between teens and adults in attendance.

Cinderella's Silence

The prevention sessions also feature an innovative anti-gang comic book developed by Centre Jeunesse de Montréal — Institut universitaire. It deals with the subject of street gangs and specifically with the sexual exploitation of girls in a gang context.
